Buildstart is a new Northern Territory Government funded scheme to stimulate the construction of more housing in the Northern Territory. Buildstart provides a grant of $14 000 to assist people not eligible for the First Home Owner Boost, to enter into a contract to purchase a new house or unit, or a contract People who presently own land are eligible for Buildstart to build a new home. People considering purchasing an investment property are also eligible for Buildstart. It is not a requirement for the applicant to occupy the residence and the grant is available to companies and trusts. Buildstart is not means tested and there is no limit on the number of times people can access Buildstart, however only one Buildstart grant is payable in relation to the same property.
